Vacation Post #1

Hey y’all!

So yesterday kicked off this summer’s family vacation. I promised to post as often as I have Internet. For the moment, the Internet is alive and well, so I thought I’d take advantage of this potentially rare opportunity.

We decided to vacation in our own lovely state of Colorado, but we are exploring the side of the state opposite to where we live. We live in the mountains, so we have descended from the high country in order to spend some time going to the big city and camping in the low(er) lands.

For this post, I thought I’d share a few pictures of our travels so far.

Rapids in the Colorado River

We were hoping to hike some of the paths along the Colorado River, but the snowmelt has overflowed the banks of the river and submerged the paths.

This is supposed to be an observation point.

On one of the mountain passes we crossed, we came upon this sign:

I guess someone did not listen.

When we reached our campground, this little guy was waiting to escort us to our site:

"Follow me. Hurry it up, people!"
One of our city stops so far has been the aquarium, where we encountered all manner of sea creatures.

We even came upon Dory and Marlin.

And Nemo. He was still trying to locate his dad.

So what is everyone else up to?

I will try to do a Writing Hint post later this week. As long as the Internet holds out.

  1. Oh, those are pretty pictures. I've taken a trip out west, but we didn't go to Colorado. We did Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa.

  2. I love the pics of the aquarium. Pretty! And I'm glad you added some "Finding Nemo" names. hehe I love that movie a little too much! Glad you're having fun!

  3. Rebekah - Thanks! Sounds like you saw a lot of places on your trip out West! Maybe next time you head out this direction, you can make it to Colorado. :)

Julia - Thank you! The aquarium was tons of fun. I absolutely love sea creatures! And isn't "Finding Nemo" a great movie? :)

  4. Lovely pictures! :) Especially love the real-life Dory and Marlin; that is TOO adorable. :D Ahh, "Finding Nemo" is such an amazing movie. I feel inspired to watch it again ... It's been a while.

  5. Brigid - Thank you! And welcome to the blog! :)

I agree with you. "Finding Nemo" IS an amazing movie. I'll be back home on Tuesday, so I'll probably do my second vacation post on Wednesday. Expect lots more pictures. :)

    Thanks for the comment! :D
